On November 18, U.S. Ambassador Robert Sherman participated in a seminar organized by the Portuguese Institute of International Relations at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (IPRI-NOVA) and the Luso-American Foundation for Development (FLAD), entitled “Portugal, NATO and the New Arc of Crises.” The seminar analyzed the evolution of the strategic environment faced by the Alliance, challenges and capabilities in the current context, with special attention to its eastern and southern flanks.

The event also had the participation of Nuno Severiano Teixeira, Director of the Portuguese Institute of International Relations (IPRI-NOVA), FLAD President Vasco Rato, Rear Admiral Paddy McAlpine, Deputy Commander of the Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO), Professor Carlos Gaspar (IPRI-NOVA), Major-General Carlos Branco (IPRI-NOVA), Nuno Pinheiro Torres, Director-General National Defense Policy, Ministry of National Defense, Francisco Duarte Lopes, Director-General of External Politics, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
