Professor Patricia Szasz, Assistant Dean for Language & Professional Programs, Graduate School of Translation, Interpretation & Language Education, Monterey Institute of International Studies, was in Portugal to talk at the 28th APPI Conference which took place in Porto between May 1 and May 3. The title of this year’s Conference was: “Language & Culture – encourage, engage, empower.”
Prof. Szasz presented a well-attended opening plenary entitled “Empowering students to become global citizens,” and a follow-up workshop on “Intercultural competence: strategies for teachers and students” in Porto.
On April 29, Professor Patricia Szasz hosted an interactive session with university professors, researchers and students at the Faculty of Letters, Universidade de Lisboa, in partnership with the American Corner, on “Strategies for the Development of Personal Intercultural Competence.”
On April 30, Professor Patricia Szasz gave a lecture at the Faculty of Letters, Universidade do Porto, in partnership with the American Corner, to future teachers of English on “Strategies for the Development of Personal Intercultural Competence.”
