
On April 21, 2015, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Container Security Initiative (CSI), the Portuguese Tributary and Customs Authority, and U.S. Embassy Lisbon celebrated 10 years of collaborative efforts in a reception at the Ambassador’s residence.
CBP, the Portuguese Customs and U.S. Embassy worked together to implement CSI, which became operational in the port of Lisbon in 2005 and relocated operations to Sines in 2012. CBP recognized the excellent bilateral partnerships and friendships by presenting appreciation plaques to Portuguese Customs officials from Lisbon and Sines, as well as the Port Administration of Sines and Algarve S.A. (APS) and PSA Sines – Terminais de Contentores S. A. CBP also recognized the U.S. Embassy Lisbon for its outstanding support to the CSI program.
