The American Embassy celebrated Earth Day with a tree planting ceremony featuring Ambassador-designate Robert Sherman. The children of Mission employees lined up to help the Ambassador in this endeavor.
In his remarks, Ambassador Sherman evoked the origins of this worldwide event launched by an American congressman 44 years ago, the meaning of a simple gesture like planting one tree and the significance of the Embassy’s choice for this year, the olive tree. And the Embassy staff enjoyed the fun of celebrating what we all have in common — EARTH.
