European Women Entrepreneurship Roadshow in Lisbon

Paving the Road to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) June 4-5 in The Hague, the Embassy of the United States of America, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the European Young Innovators’ Forum were proud to host the Women Entrepreneurship Roadshow (WER) in Lisbon at Beta-i on Abril 4-5. During the program, 30 leading women entrepreneurs from Portugal connected with representatives of Venture Capital funds, engaged in mentoring with experts in areas such as marketing, finance, and operations, leaders, and networked with other business leaders.

In her remarks to the entrepreneurs, U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Herro Mustafa spoke about the importance of transatlantic connections in fostering entrepreneurship and highlighted the Trump Administration’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment with the launch of the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative.

The Lisbon program was the 2nd of 10 WER events around Europe to connect 300 high-potential women founders with 30 leading US and European VCs in order to address the barriers in the funding process. WER is a project sponsored by the US Mission to the European Union, and has Amazon and Startup Europe as strategic partners to support and empower women entrepreneurs.  In the long run the target is also that this series of events in Madrid, Lisbon, Brussels, Sophie, Bucharest, Dublin, Copenhagen, Budapest, The Hague, Berlin, and Vilnius, can work as the basis of a report with recommendations for the European Union.
