Liz joined the Director of the School of Home, Hospitality and Tourism, Filipe Rocha, for a press conference on Tuesday, January 27th, at the school to talk about the Farm to Table program and to wish the participants a great trip. The current program which includes Azorean participants in the food and wine industry is a result of Rocha’s experience as a US government exchange visitor and he helped envision and build this program. The State Department is pleased to be able to work with him to expand on his experience and help deliver a resource that is important to the Azores.
These types of outreach and exchange are essential in continuing to develop the ties between our countries and it is exciting that were able to support such a large group to travel to the US in improve their understanding of the Farm-to-table phenomenon. This program represents an investment in the Azores and a recognition of the unique connection between agriculture and tourism that is part of the fabric of these islands.
