On March 20 and 22, 2018 two groups of 12th grade students from, respectively, Escola Secundária Dr. Joaquim de Carvalho in Figueira da Foz and Escola Secundária da Amadora visited the U.S. Embassy in Lisbon to learn about its role and daily activities. Both groups were welcomed by Assistant Public Affairs Officer Meg Young who explained the work performed by the various sections of the Embassy and highlighted opportunities to study and work in the USA. Political Officer Mark Gul was also present and talked about U.S. policies and practices regarding human rights issues.
Teachers received additional printed materials that will help them develop follow-on classroom activities and projects.
