On February 28, 2018 Elizabeth Llovet, a U.S. State Department Gilman Scholar spoke at Escola Secundária da Amadora about the Importance of Learning English Ms. Llovet is an American university student participating in a prestigious State Department funded exchange program and selected Portugal as her destination country. In her talk Ms. Llovet focused on the importance of learning languages, and she highlighted the capacity of Portuguese students to learn and speak English quite fluently. She also spoke about her own experience as a university student in Lisbon, and how happy she was when the Embassy decided to call her in to engage directly with the Portuguese high school students. To complement the main topic and to explain more in detail about Study in the USA, Fulbright Educational Adviser, Dorian Rosca was also invited and interacted with the students by motivating them to focus a lot on English language learning since it is mandatory to study in the U.S.
