Kathleen Graves at the 29th APPI Conference

The Office of Public Affairs in Lisbon supported the visit to Portugal of Prof. Kathleen Graves, Associate Professor of Education Practice at the University of Michigan, during the period of April 28 – May 2, 2015. On April 28 and 29, Kathleen Graves made a well-attended presentation, respectively, at the University of Aveiro and Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon about “Creating Learning Communities in the Classroom”. The event was held in conjunction with the American Corners of both universities.

Kathleen Graves was a guest speaker at the 29th annual meeting of the Portuguese Association of English Teachers (APPI) held in Lisbon, April 29 – May 2. The topic of this year’s conference was “21st Century Skills in ELT”. Public Affairs Officer Mark Pannell opened the event with a speech which was followed by a plenary session with Professor Graves entitled “Creativity: an essential resource for the 20th century”. The following day, Kathleen Graves presented another session at the conference about “Using mind maps to understand and design curriculum”.
