On May 15, a group of students from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth visited the American Embassy Lisbon for a briefing on how an embassy works. These students are currently studying in Portugal under the API UMass in Lisbon program at ISCTE. Ambassador Sherman welcomed the guests. After hearing about how a mission is led and managed, including the Embassy’s public outreach, political, economic and consular efforts, and our advocacy for U.S. businesses, the students had the opportunity to ask questions about the state of U.S./Portuguese relations and careers in the Foreign Service.
