MARS is a six-part TV event which premiered on the National Geographic channel on November 13, 2016. This innovative series combines interviews with real-world space experts, and a fictional story about a human mission to the Red Planet. In his remarks Ambassador Sherman said that this series offers us all a chance to look a little bit into the future and see what a manned journey to mars will look like. The Ambassador stressed the need to continue to invest in the closest platform for exploration: the International Space Station and congratulated the remarkable work of NASA and the ESA in expanding our understanding of space and science. “This is a journey we are embarking on together and advancing humanity’s reach will be a truly global endeavor; one that will bring us, not only closer to the stars, but will also bring us tangible rewards here on Earth.” – R. Sherman
