Multiculturalism in the USA explained in Silves

On February 23, 2018 Political Officer, Roshni Nirody and Fulbright Commission Educational Adviser Dorian Rosca presented at the Escola Secundária de Silves, a public secondary school very close to the Algarve region, in the South of Portugal. More than 200 students ranging from 10th through 12th grades participated in this session, and a few were already considering studying in the U.S.
Ms. Nirody presented on Martin Luther King/Civil Rights Movement and Multiculturalism in the United States, namely the value of diversity in American society nowadays and Mr. Rosca presented on EducationUSA, a Fulbright program that provides students with information and guidance on pursuing an education in the U.S., from the selection and application process to financial aid and student visas. The presentations were followed by a Q&A session in which students asked about the main differences between American Universities and Community Colleges, and life on campus, as well as opportunities to work abroad and other programs they could experience during Summer.
