The U.S. Embassy and the U.S. Consulate partnered with the Universidade dos Açores; the American Corner@Universidade dos Açores, and the Portuguese Association of Teachers of English (APPI). Youth Ambassadors, participants in the American-Portuguese Intercultural Youth Camp in 2013, as well as students from two local high schools volunteered in the event.

The competition, which took place at the university’s campus, included students from three schools in Ponta Delgada, one from Lagoa, and one from Ribeira Grande. The Escola Secundária Domingos Rebelo collected all three prizes: the first place winner was António José Palma Ramos, the second place winner was Lara Bettencourt Faustino, and the third place winner was João Pedro Matias Rego. Can you spell the winning word? Constitutional.
