Red Ribbon Week Presentation at CAISL

Red Ribbon Week badge. On October 17, 2014, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) at the U.S. Embassy Lisbon gave a drug prevention awareness presentation to 110 middle and high school students at Carlucci American International School of Lisbon (CAISL) as part of DEA Red Ribbon Week, which is the oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program in the United States.

Red Ribbon Week started after the death of DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who in 1985 was brutally tortured and murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico. Red Ribbon Week is celebrated October 23-31 to remember Special Agent Camarena and honor all who have lost their lives in the fight against drugs.
