The U.S. Embassy in Lisbon cautions U.S. citizens of the potential for wildfires in Portugal. Peak fire season in Portugal is already underway and can last until October. Prior to traveling in Portugal, we encourage you to monitor the Civil Protection Authority’s website at Prociv.pt, where you will find notices on elevated fire risks.
All U.S. citizens living in or traveling in Portugal should also monitor local news reports, follow directions from local officials, and take appropriate action as needed.
