On February 22, 2018 a group of 12th graders from the Escola Secundária Dr. António Carvalho de Figueiredo in Loures visited the Embassy to learn more on the US Diversity, namely to know about MLK and the US Civil Rights Movement. Taking the opportunity to celebrate Black History Month, Meg Ryan, the Embassy Assistant Public Affairs Officer, explained the most important steps of this historical moment in the U.S. History, and discussed U.S. diversity trends.  Both students and teachers appreciated this opportunity to visit the Embassy and to learn more about U.S. History.  Teachers received printed publications about the Civil Rights Movement. All the materials will help them develop follow-on classroom activities.
