From time to time there are demonstrations and strikes in Portugal. The Embassy recommends the following actions:
For Demonstrations:
- Avoid the areas of the demonstrations
- Exercise caution if in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests
- Monitor local media for updates
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Keep a low profile
- Notify friends and family of your safety
For fuel strikes:
- Maintain personal vehicles fueled up
- Consider the impact of a fuel shortage on any planned travel
- Consider using public transportation if available
- Always monitor local media to keep well-informed of current events that could impact you and your family
- Maintain emergency supplies at your residence to include medications, non-perishable food items, and water.
