US Embassy Lisbon Employees Help Build a House

Again this year, an Embassy team volunteered to help. (Photo: US Embassy Lisbon)As a yearly event, a team of Embassy staff and family members volunteer to help build or renovate a home for a disadvantaged family in Portugal.

This year, the team went to Braga in early October to help build a home for a family through Habitat for Humanity. Rain or shine, the volunteers gladly performed many tasks including laying bricks, mixing cement, and hauling heavy materials.

The annual Habitat for Humanity volunteer trip is sponsored by LEHOP (Lisbon Environmental and Humanitarian Outreach Program), which is a committee of Embassy Lisbon employees established with a purpose to increase volunteerism within the Embassy community.
