USS Ross will be visiting Lisbon and a guided press tour will be held on December 12, at 10:30.
This is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer (DDG 71) from the U.S. Navy. The Ross can operate in any threat environment and is capable of defeating hostile surface ships, submarines, and air forces simultaneously.
The USS Ross is coming to Lisbon to help celebrate the 700th anniversary of the Portuguese Navy. This visit is also an opportunity to further strenthen U.S.-Portugal relations as the two nations work together for a stable, secure and prosperous Europe. Through strengthened relationships, we can expect an increase in peace and stability throughout the region.
The ship’s presence in the North Atlantic is a demonstration of our continued commitment to the collective security of the European region.
