On May 13, 2014, several West Point cadets spoke to a group of students at Escola EB 2,3 Bento Carqueja in Oliveira de Azeméis. The talk gave the cadets, who are currently studying at the University of Coimbra in Portugal, an excellent opportunity for them to talk about their experience as students learning Portuguese and explain the importance of the West Point Academy as one of the most prestigious military institutions in the US. The cadets also led a discussion about the academy’s traditions and fielded a large number of questions about the United States and their lives as cadets at West Point.
The teachers embraced this visit opportunity with full enthusiasm, and congratulated this group of cadets for their initiative and interest in engaging with Portuguese youth.
